Michael Imperioli joined filmmaker Julia Mintz following a screening of her riveting documentary <em><strong>Four Winters<\/strong><\/em> to discuss its genesis and ever-relevant issues.\u00a0We&#8217;ve invited Michael to return in the coming weeks to screen a film of his choosing &#8212; stay tuned.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-7087 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/newplazacinema.org\/test_area\/staff_materials\/tickets\/test_area\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Black-Notebooks-Poster-208x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"208\" height=\"300\" \/>This weekend we&#8217;ll be offering another rich assortment of films with some very special guests, including the NY premiere of a new documentary <em><strong>Black Notebooks: Ronit<\/strong><\/em> from actor\/director Shlomi Elkabetz. If you caught the remarkable Israeli mini-series <em>Our Boys<\/em> (still streaming on HBO Max) you may remember the implacable &#8220;internal terrorism&#8221; agent who breaks open a murder case &#8212; based on actual events &#8212; and exposes layers of convulsive personal and national tragedy.<\/p>\n<p>That was Shlomi Elkabetz. He co-directed with his sister Ronit in the award-winning drama <em><strong>Gett: The Trial of Viviane Amsalem<\/strong>,<\/em> which in 2015 ran for ten weeks at the Lincoln Plaza. Ronit Elkabetz also starred in other Israeli cinema classics including <em>The Band&#8217;s Visit<\/em> and Late <em>Marriage.<\/em>\u00a0Tragically, she died from lung cancer in 2016 and <em><strong>Black Notebooks: Ronit<\/strong><\/em> is her brother&#8217;s unconventional but no less heartrending portrait of her life and career, their family, and their close personal and artistic ties.<\/p>\n<p>Some extraordinary guests will be joining Shlomi Elkabetz for Q&amp;As after our screenings:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>on Friday night, actor John Turturro<\/li>\n<li>on Saturday night,\u00a0novelist Nicole Krauss<\/li>\n<li>on Sunday afternoon,\u00a0actress Mili Avital<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We hope you can join us.
