Hello everyone. This week is relatively quiet as we prepare for a wave of new movies next Friday and beyond on our Virtual Cinema site.<\/p>\n

\"\"The distributor\u00a0of\u00a0Nasrin<\/a>, the documentary we recently featured on valiant Iranian human rights lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh (narrated by Oscar winner Olivia Colman), asked us to put the film back in rotation for a couple of weeks and we happily agreed. I’m familiar\u00a0with Nasrin from her appearance in Jafar Panahi’s one of a kind 2015 film\u00a0Taxi<\/em>, which I heartily recommend here as an online “double feature.”<\/p>\n

M.C. Escher: Journey to Infinity<\/em>\u00a0– You may have\u00a0perused our previous notes on this new documentary\u00a0about the legendary graphic artist. We’ll be hosting the NYC theatrical\u00a0premiere along with dozens of art houses around the U.S.\u00a0Here again is the trailer.<\/a><\/p>\n

Two of Us<\/em>\u00a0(aka\u00a0Deux<\/em>) – France’s official submission for best international film in this year’s Oscar race stars Barbara Sukowa and Martine Chevalier as two long time lovers whose bond is suddenly tested by unforeseen events.\u00a0Here is the trailer.<\/a><\/p>\n

Leona<\/em>\u00a0– A young Jewish woman from Mexico City finds herself torn between her family and a forbidden love affair. Acclaimed actress Naian Gonzalez Norvind anchors this portrait of the country’s reclusive Jewish community.\u00a0Check out the trailer here.<\/a><\/p>\n

Heartworn Highways<\/em>\u00a0– Restoration of the seminal 1976 country music doc featuring legends-in-the-making Steve Earle, Charlie Daniels, Townes van Zandt, and a dozen others.\u00a0The trailer can be found here.<\/a><\/p>\n

And, starting on February\u00a012th we’ll be featuring a major award season release. This film is the winner of a top prize at\u00a0Sundance 2020\u00a0and a likely Oscar contender whose distributor has asked us to hold off on revealing the title. I’m sure that many of you have read about it and are eager to see it…<\/p>\n
