\"\"Hello everyone.\u00a0 As most of you may know, there was good news earlier this week from distributor A24 on their special, pre-video-on-demand Virtual Cinema engagement of Minari<\/strong><\/em>. After their initial ticket allocation for the February 12-25 run quickly sold out, A24 \u2014\u00a0a company whose films New Plaza<\/strong> has frequently played (e.g. First Reformed, 8th Grade, Last Black Man in San Francisco, The Farewell<\/em>)\u00a0\u2014\u00a0stepped up and released a new batch of tickets\u00a0which, as of today, are still available\u00a0for daily performances from February 19-25.<\/p>\n

From what I’m reading and hearing from our fellow art houses\u00a0around the country, Minari<\/strong><\/em> has been coming on strong with audiences and local\u00a0critics as a potential Oscar contender, with special attention being paid to Korean actress Yuh-jung Youn as the uproariously feisty grandmother.<\/p>\n

The nominations will be announced on March 15th. We’re currently featuring three Academy “short listers”\u00a0in the categories of International Film (Two of Us<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0from France and Collective<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0from Romania) and Documentary Feature (76 Days\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>and Collective<\/strong><\/em>, again).<\/p>\n

Next week we’ll be adding the Danish “short lister”\u00a0Another Round<\/strong><\/em>,\u00a0with international star\/007 nemesis\u00a0Mads Mikkelsen.<\/p>\n

This week, I was also very moved when I revisited\u00a0Gordon Parks’ 1969 classic The Learning Tree<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0and hope you’ll join us and some special guests on this Sunday (2\/21) evening’s Talk Back<\/a>…<\/p>\n
