The film&#8217;s six nominations include Best Picture, Director, Screenplay (helmer Florian Zeller co-adapting his own play, presented in 2016 on Broadway with Frank Langella)\u00a0and nods for Hopkins and Colman.<\/p>\n<p><em>The NY Times&#8217;<\/em> Jeannette Catsoulis wrote, <strong>&#8220;At once stupendously effective and profoundly upsetting&#8230;Zeller plays with perspective so cleverly that maintaining any kind of emotional distance is impossible.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Another hard-hitting addition this week is a nominee for best international film (we&#8217;re now offering three of those five) <a href=\"https:\/\/watch.neonrated.com\/film\/new-york-institute-of-technology-presents-quo-vadis-aida\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/watch.neonrated.com\/film\/new-york-institute-of-technology-presents-quo-vadis-aida\/\"><strong><em>Quo Vadis, Aida?<\/em><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0from Bosnia and Herzegovina, in which\u00a0the 1995 massacre of thousands of Muslims in the town of Srebrenica is recounted through the eyes of a local teacher-turned-UN translator\u00a0caught up in a nightmare of tragic, absurd contradictions.<\/p>\n<p>In his &#8220;Critic&#8217;s\u00a0Pick&#8221;\u00a0the <em>NYT&#8217;s<\/em> Tony Scott noted,<strong> &#8220;The film&#8217;s rigorous honesty is harrowing, partly because it subverts many of the expectations that quietly attach themselves to movies about historical trauma&#8230;.&#8221;\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Also, after a brief interruption last weekend, the beloved <a href=\"https:\/\/screeningroom.a24films.com\/?utm_source=New_Plaza_Cinema&amp;utm_medium=Email&amp;utm_campaign=Minari\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/screeningroom.a24films.com\/?utm_source=New_Plaza_Cinema&amp;utm_medium=Email&amp;utm_campaign=Minari\"><strong><em>Minari<\/em><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is back for screenings this Friday (4\/16) through Sunday (4\/18).<\/p>\n<p>And with Earth Day falling next Thursday April 22 and &#8220;earth issues&#8221;\u00a0seemingly in the news and on our minds daily, we&#8217;re previewing a new documentary <em>The Race to Save the World<\/em>\u00a0for a limited run starting on that celebratory day.
