We&#8217;re augmenting this week&#8217;s virtual cinema lineup with two recent documentaries. In <a href=\"https:\/\/kinomarquee.com\/film\/truman-tennessee-an-intimate-conversation\/604a50eb4ea599000147d83c\/new-plaza-cinema\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/kinomarquee.com\/film\/truman-tennessee-an-intimate-conversation\/604a50eb4ea599000147d83c\/new-plaza-cinema\"><em><strong>Truman &amp; Tennessee: An Intimate Conversation<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, filmmaker Lisa Immordino Vreeland stitches\u00a0together\u00a0extensively researched archival footage of Tennessee Williams and Truman Capote, creating a lively conversation between two writers who clearly had a lot to say &#8220;to&#8221; and &#8220;about&#8221; each other. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Per Ben Kenigsberg of the <em>NY Times<\/em>, among many other topics &#8220;they express disappointment with films adapted from their work. Williams felt the censorship was so heavy you often needed to see the stage version for comprehension.\u00a0 Capote says Paramount &#8216;double-crossed&#8217; him by casting Audrey Hepburn (whom he nevertheless praises) instead of Marilyn Monroe in <em>Breakfast at Tiffany&#8217;s<\/em>.&#8221;\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Another new doc, <a href=\"https:\/\/watch.eventive.org\/theboysinredhats\/play\/60ea4c182e514300b0b9f1a2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/watch.eventive.org\/theboysinredhats\/play\/60ea4c182e514300b0b9f1a2\"><em><strong>The<\/strong><\/em> <strong><em>Boys in Red Hats<\/em><\/strong><\/a> attempts to make sense of a very different subject \u2014 the raucous January 2019 encounter\u00a0between privileged white high school students and a Native American demonstrator at the Lincoln Memorial that went &#8220;viral&#8221; and provoked a storm of outrage on both sides of our now all-too-familiar socio-political divide. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Filmmaker Jonathan Schroder is himself a graduate of that high school, Covington Catholic in Kentucky, and attempts here to also chronicle his own journey through the past as well as examine (with lots of CNN and other raw footage) the seemingly intractable issues at hand.
