Hello everyone. Our three new films arriving today include:
M.C. Escher: Journey to Infinity – You may’ve perused our previous notes on this new documentary on the legendary Dutch graphic artist. We’ll be hosting the NYC theatrical premiere along with dozens of cutting-edge art houses around the U.S. Here again is the trailer.
Two of Us (aka Deux) – France’s official submission for best international film in this year’s Oscar race (and a Golden Globe nominee this week) stars Barbara Sukowa (Lola, Hannah Arendt) and Martine Chevalier as two long time lovers whose bond is suddenly tested by unforeseen events. Here is the trailer.
Heartworn Highways – This restoration of the seminal 1976 country music doc features legends-in-the-making Steve Earle, Charlie Daniels, Townes van Zandt, and a dozen others. “(The filmmaker) loves his subjects, and the imagery is so warm and finely detailed.” – Pauline Kael, The New Yorker. You can find the trailer here.
And starting February 12th we’ve been selected, along with several other “A-list” NYC art houses, to present a special limited engagement of Minari winner of the top prize at Sundance 2020 and likely Oscar contender in multiple categories. I’m sure many of you have read about and are eager to see this heart-tugging story of a Korean-American family – father, mother, kids and rambunctious grandmother – who journey from California to the Ozarks in search of their own handhold on the American dream.
The NY Times Manohla Dargis writes, “‘Minari’ solicits well-earned tears and turns on a profound crisis that can only be solved when the family pulls together, unity that works as a welcome and, in its underlying optimism, deeply moving metaphor.” Here’s the terrific trailer.
Tickets will be available for advance purchase (which we recommend) starting next Tuesday February 9th, along with full details coming in a special email “blast.”
Happy viewing.
